1. 𝓗𝓸𝓷𝓮𝓼𝓽 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓑𝓻𝓾𝓽𝓪𝓵

This poem collection does not stray or shy from the reality of abuse, rape, and the ache of a broken heart. Kaur's words contain beauty in their honesty and truth to what it feels and looks like to break and shatter. I enjoyed the collection's explicit narration of ache and pain as well as Kaur's use of nature imagery. If you're looking for an honest account of the hardships of life, this poem offers just that. 

2. 𝓡𝓮𝓪𝓭𝓮𝓻-𝓕𝓻𝓲𝓮𝓷𝓭𝓵𝔂 

As with Rupi Kaur's debut collection, I found the poems of "the sun and her flowers" fun to read and inviting. Kaur's poems are easy to decode and understand, and they flow with a grace and ease. I recommend Kaur's poetry (both collections) for beginner poetry enthusiasts, because her poems do not overwhelm and are perfect for creating small mindful moments during busy lives.
Aforementioned, the collection contains themes of heartbreak and sorrow, but also the collection celebrates the riches of love, friendship, family, and self-love. The poems transform from anguish and abuse to an encouragement and promising outlook on life. I especially loved reading her chapter "blooming", because it filled me with optimistic ideas and feeling. 

3. 𝓡𝓮𝓵𝓮𝓿𝓪𝓷𝓽 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓡𝓮𝓪𝓵𝓲𝓼𝓽𝓲𝓬

Kaur's poetry features key elements of popular culture, including intersectional feminism and reflection of discrimination and cultural differences. The collection conveys the feelings that spur in modern twenty-first societies and eagerly presents the values and promises of the new generations. I enjoyed the passion of Kaur's poetry and her relatable themes and content. There is art and beauty in Kaur's words. They challenge the reader to consider their conceptions of the world, but also provide a safe harbour from all the wicked and horrid.
