I'd appreciate it if you could at least be creepy in a way I could understand.

The Wicked + The Divine was the first graphic novel I read in a long time after embarking on a personal challenge of trying out new literary styles and diversifying my book shelf. Overall, I enjoyed this reading experience. It took me a few pages to grow familiar with the artistic styles and authorial ways, but after my introduction with graphics, the story unfolded easily.

Magic of threes, everyone.

Full of excitement
This graphic novel plays with magic, gods and goddesses, and the concept of immortality and mortality. The reader follows protagonist Laura as she learns about twelve different deities and attempts to solve a murder mystery. I found the plot intriguing and interesting as Laura interacts with the immortals. While some of the plot feels overdone and repetitive, I found the overall story line exciting and entertaining.

Humorous
I found myself entertained and laughing at the character dynamics, especially the snarky dialogue thrown between the gods and goddesses. Cocky and loud personalities bring colour to this novel, despite the few clichés I did my best to ignore.

Well-illustrated drawings and graphics
The visual aspect of this novel is a success. The distinct illustration style and colours gives detail to each character and gives the story a unique outlook. The story is easy to follow and enjoy, because of the clear and well-drawn illustrations.

Cheers!
