This Savage Song
Victoria Schwab ★★

This Savage Song is a dystopian novel featuring a tale of monsters, corruption, and self-discovery. Are you ready for the excitement?
Well, unfortunately, the excitement was a disappointment. I found this novel only average, and I long and search for the phenomenal and exciting ones.
While the story had interesting aspects, such as the monsters and the Sunai, I found the protagonists and characters one-dimensional and irksome. They resemble too much of over-used literary tropes and clichés. Also, the character dynamics are weak, making the characters unlikable. For example, I found myself rolling my eyes at Kate's desperate cries and acts for attention.
While the characters didn't impress me, the novel contains a few engaging plot twists and turns that kept me entertained. I found myself feeling similar to what I felt after the first novel of the A Court of Thorns and Roses series: somewhat entertained, but far from impressed.
Because I'm on the search for exceptional and amazing reading adventures, I found myself put off from the rest of this series.
Has anyone read the next books of the series? Do the novels get better?
Cheers!
I mean, most people want to escape. Get out of their heads. Out of their lives. Stories are the easiest way to do that.
